2022/23 and 2023/24 School Calendar


February 1, 2022 - At the January 31, 2022 Board of Education Meeting, the Board of Education approved for submission to the Ministry of Education, the school calendars for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years.

The Board of Education thanks the community for its feedback on the proposed 2022-23 and 2023-24 School Calendars.

Section 87.01(2) of the School Act indicates that "A board must, in accordance with the regulations of the minister, prepare a school calendar for each school in its school district for each school calendar year." This calendar must be submitted to the Minister on March 31, 2022.

The District is required to provide an opportunity for parents and representatives of the employee groups to provide comments to the Board of Education. This proposed calendar must be made public at least one month prior to March 31, 2022.

The final school calendar and feedback received will be presented to the Board of Education at the Board of Education meeting on February 28, 2022, 6:30pm.

The survey will be open from December 1, 2021 until January 25, 2022. Please provide your feedback below.


Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Why is process for a two year school calendar instead of one? The School Act and Regulations allow for school districts to determine school calendars for up to three years.

How are the number of non-instructional days determined? The Ministry of Education determines the number of non-instructional days.

How are the number of days decided for each school year? The School Act determines the minimum number of hours for instruction that are required each school year. The minimum hours are: 853 for Kindergarten; 878 for Grades 1-7 and 952 for Grades 8-12.

What if a change is needed in the calendar? Should there be any changes to the school calendar, the Board of Education must follow the amendment process as outlined in the School Calendar Regulations.

    All comments, feedback and suggestions will be reviewed by trustees before adoption of the school calendar(s) at a Board of Education meeting.
